Virgie Mae Woodard Harris, 72, of the 36000 block of Broadwater Road, died Aug. 25, 1994, in Obici Hospital.
Mrs. Harris was a native of Southampton County and was the daughter of the late Nathaniel and Emma Scott Woodard and the wife of the late James H. Harris. She was retired from the Southampton County School System and was a member of New Branch Baptist Church in Ivor and the Usher Board.
Survivors include five daughters, Virgie A. Jones of Cape May, N.J., Shirley Harris of Woodine, N.J., Helen Cotton of Ivor, Agnes Harris of Waverly and Marie Young of Franklin; three sons, James H. Harris Jr. and Wendell Harris, both of Ivor, and Winston Harris of Wakefield; two sisters, Roberta Holloway and Inell Holloman, both of Ivor; three brothers, Robert Woodard of West Palm Beach, Fla., Delano Woodard of Wakefield and Thomas Woodard of Ivor; aunts, Bernice Pierce and Ethel Little; daughter-in-law, Linda Harris; son-in-law, Robert Jones; 14 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in New Branch Baptist Church, Ivor, by the Rev. Frank Aikens Sr. Burial will be in Gilfield Baptist Church Cemetery. The body will be placed in the church at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday. Crocker Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
