A Virginia man was killed in Franklin, W.Va., after the brakes on his tractor trailer failed and the vehicle veered off the road and smashed into a tree, state police said Friday.
Kenneth Wayne Clark, 27, of Portsmouth died from head injuries, Dr. H.L. Eye, Pendleton County Coroner, said.
A passenger, Van Tyrone Edwards, 40, also of Portsmouth, was listed in fair condition at the University of Virginia Hospital in Charlottesville.
Trooper C.F. Trader said Clark lost control of the truck in a sharp turn on U.S. 33 near Franklin. Clark was delivering beer to Beverage Distributing Co. in Clarksburg.
