Atlantic Shores made a successful return to varsity football Saturday with a come-from-behind, 20-13 victory over Isle of Wight.
The Seahawks, who played at the junior varsity level last year, trailed Isle of Wight, 13-12, in the fourth quarter.
But junior running back D.J. Jordan, behind a crushing block by Jonathon Keese, scored on a 26-yard run with 10:21 left in the game to give Atlantic Shores and first-year head coach Mickey Toll the win.
Jordan rushed for 147 yards on 25 carries and scored two touchdowns and two-point conversion. Keese scored the other Seahawk touchdown on an 80-yard pass from Micah Clymer.
Isle of Wight, which defeated Atlantic Shores, 27-0, two years ago when the Seahawks last played varsity football, scored on a pair of touchdown passes from Richard Spady to Brandon Blythe.
But the Atlantic Shores defense, led by B.J. Skipper (two sacks), dumped Spady behind the line of scrimmage nine times. by CNB
