Police early today detonated a pipe bomb that was found in the parking lot of the Virginia Beach office of The Virginian-Pilot and The Ledger-Star.
A police officer spotted the device about 11:45 p.m. Sunday as he was patrolling the parking lot near the intersection of Virginia Beach and Independence boulevards across from Pembroke Mall.
About two hours later, a police special operations unit disarmed the device by blowing it up.
There are no suspects, and the motive is unknown. by CNB
