High: full-price breakfast, 60 cents; full-price lunch, 1.00; reduced-price breakfast, 30 cents; reduced-price lunch, 40 cents; milk, 25 cents.
Adult: full-price breakfast, $1.25; full-price lunch, $1.75; milk, 25 cents.
(Note: Applications are being distributed to all households with a letter informing households of the availability of free and reduced-price meals for their children. Applications also are available at the principal's office in each school. To apply for free or reduced-price meals, households must fill out the application and return it to the school. Applications may be submitted at any time during the school year.) FEES
Beginning this school year, there will be no textbook rental fees. Individual schools may, however, have fees for such miscellaneous items as locks, gym uniforms, before- and after-school child care, and parking permits. Principals can furnish detailed information on these.
Behind-the-wheel instruction: $50
Tuition (20-year-olds): $1,100 - This is tuition for students who reached 20 on or before Aug. 1 of this year. ($110 payable at the beginning of each month)
Tuition (Out-of-county): $1,100 - This is for students who live outside the county but choose to attend Isle of Wight Schools. The fee is payable at $550 per semester.
(Note: The parent or guardian of a student transferring into a school in Isle of Wight County from another division must sign a statement as to whether the student has ever been expelled or suspended for (1) possession of weapons or dangerous instruments, (2) assaults/threats/violence, or (3) possession of controlled substances or drug paraphernalia.) ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS
1. Social Security card. 2. Child's birth certificate. 3. Documentation of a physical examination and required immunizations. 4. Kindergarten - must have reached 5th birthday on or before Sept. 30, 1993.
If you are registering a child for the first time, you must present proof of Isle of Wight County residence (such as a rental agreement, tax receipt, or utility bill addressed to you); proof of legal guardianship if you are not the child's parent.
If you do not have the required forms, help in requesting the forms and help in completing them will be available at the school.
Please direct questions regarding registration to the office of the school nearest you. IMMUNIZATION SCHEDULE
Children entering school for the first time need up-to-date immunizations and children entering the 6th grade need boosters, according to the Isle of Wight County Health Department.
If you need assistance in determining what immunizations your child will need, contact your physician or the Isle of Wight County Health Department at 357-4177.
The Health Department will be operating an immunization clinic on the following days and times:
Today - 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Thursday - 2 to 6 p.m.
Friday - 2 to 6 p.m.
Tuesday, Sept. 6 - 2 to 6 p.m.
Wednesday, Sept. 7 - 2 to 6 p.m. OPEN HOUSE SCHEDULES
CARROLLTON ELEMENTARY: Thursday - Meet Your Teacher Day/Open House, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Homeroom lists will be posted in the lobby and in each wing. Kindergarten students should have received a letter in the mail indicating teacher and homeroom number. All kindergarten students will be tagged with the number of the bus he/she rides. This will be done as they exit the bus. It is, therefore, important that all students ride the bus on the first day. Kindergarten and first-grade students will be met as they exit the bus and then directed to their classrooms.
Thursday at Open House, parents will be able to join the PTA, register students and purchase school and/or dental insurance.
HARDY ELEMENTARY: Open house will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday.
Anyone wishing to become a volunteer at Hardy should contact the school principal, Richard Crawford.
CARRSVILLE ELEMENTARY: Open House will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. today.
WINDSOR ELEMENTARY: Kindergarten orientation will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday. Parents and students in grades 1-5 may visit their teachers from 10 to 11 a.m.
SMITHFIELD MIDDLE: Open House will be held from 2:30 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday.
WINDSOR MIDDLE: Orientation for parents and students will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. today. It will be held again from 8 to 10 a.m. on Thursday. Students who could not attend either orientation session may pick up their schedules Sept. 6, opening day.
SMITHFIELD HIGH: Open House will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today.
WINDSOR HIGH: Orientation will be held from 9 a.m. to noon and from 1 to 3 p.m. today. by CNB
