Albert Wrixiam Porter, 81, of Dixie Drive, a retired aircraft mechanic, died Aug. 29, 1994 in his home.
Mr. Porter was born in Princess Anne, Md., and was a Methodist. He was retired from the Naval Air Rework Facility after 14 years. He was also retired from the U.S. Navy as a senior chief after 31 years and was a veteran of World War II and the Korean and Vietnam wars. He was a member of Fleet Reserve Branch 60.
Survivors include his wife, Harriett A. Porter; a daughter, Linda P. Modlin of Norfolk; two sisters, Ethelyn Hitch of Fruitland, Md. and Louise Stevens of Snowhill, Md.; a brother, James Porter of Princess Anne, Md.; two granddaughters, Andrea Wagner of Yorktown, Va. and Laura Spires of Norfolk; and two great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Smith & Williams Funeral Home, Norfolk Chapel. Burial will be private. A Fleet Reserve service will be at 7 p.m. today, by Fleet Reserve Branch 60, in the funeral home, where visitation will follow until 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
