Nathaniel L. ``Nat'' Etheridge, 70, of the 3000 block of Guenevere Drive, a retired crane operator, died Aug. 28, 1994, in the Hampton VA Hospital.
Mr. Etheridge was born in Norfolk County and was retired from Tidewater Equipment Corporation after 28 years. He was a member of Lee's Chapel AME Church, Chesapeake, International Association of Bridge Structural and Ornamental Iron Workers Union (AFL-CIO). He was an Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Bessie M. Etheridge; two daughters, Annette Sprull and Vera Newsome, and two sons, Curtis Jones and Donald Etheridge, all of Chesapeake; six sisters, Mary Moore, Beatrice Bell, Sophia Alexander, Mamie Moyler and Rosa Smith, all of Chesapeake, and Lena Langester of Portsmouth; two brothers, Morris Etheridge and Enoch Etheridge, both of Chesapeake; a grandchild, April T. Etheridge; nine foster grandchildren; six foster great-grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Minnie Jones; three sisters-in-law; three brothers-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A funeral will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. today in Lee's Chapel AME Church by the Rev. Horace Cross and the Rev. Charles Harvin. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park with military honors. Viewing is at Corprew Funeral Home, Portsmouth. The body will be taken to the church at noon today.
