JOHN J. ADAMCIK

John Joseph Adamcik, 72, of Virginia Beach, a retired police officer in Verona, N.J., after 27 years of service, died Aug. 31, 1994 in his residence.

Mr. Adamcik was born in Swoyerville, Pa. He was a member of the Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Verona, N.J., before moving to Virginia Beach. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps for 10 years where he received a Purple Heart, and he was a survivor of the USS Quincy at Guadalcanal. Mr. Adamcik was an organizer and coach of the Verona P.B.A. Eagles Youth Football Club, a life member of the Police Benevolent Association, American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley M. Adamcik; a daughter, Jacqueline Gorman of Middletown, R.I.; a son, John J. Adamcik Jr. of East Hanover, N.J.; two stepdaughters, Betsy Arnaudin of Virginia Beach and Pamela Doyle of Midlothian, Va.; a stepson, Ross Montgomery of Evans, Ga.; a sister, Helen Mesaros of Swoyerville, Pa.; a brother, Michael Adamcik of Swoyerville; a granddaughter; Casey Adamcik of Toms River, N.J.; and eight stepgrandchildren.

A funeral Mass will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 3, in Church of the Holy Family by Father Richard Mooney. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 8, in Arlington National Cemetery. A Christian wake service will be Friday, Sept. 2, at 7 p.m. in H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Laskin Road Chapel.
