Melzinia Mathis of the first block of Grady Crescent, a domestic worker, died Aug. 30, 1994, in a local hospital.
She was born in Norfolk and was a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church Berkley.
Survivors include a daughter, Christine Matthew of Chesapeake; a son, Eugene W. Barron of Norfolk; four sisters, Gertrude Reid and Mary Little, both of Chesapeake, and Thelma Cartwright and Beulah Davis, both of Norfolk; five grandchildren, Marie T. Matthew, Wendell Williams and Troy Williams, all of Chesapeake; Avis Williams and Terry Hunter, both of Norfolk; eight great-grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Martha Barron of Norfolk; a sister-in-law, Margaret Barron of Norfolk; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
A funeral will be conducted at noon Saturday in Mount Zion Baptist Church Berkley by Dr. Charles Hart. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park. Friends will assemble with the family at 85 Grady Crescent, Chesapeake, at 11 a.m. Saturday for the funeral processional to the church. Metropolitan Funeral Service is handling arrangements.
