Mattie M. Baker, 87, of the 1200 block of Highland Ave., died Aug. 31, 1994, in her home.
Mrs. Baker was born in Wilson County, N.C., and was the widow of Robert Baker. She was a member and a Church Mother of Prince of Peace Pentecostal Holiness Church, Portsmouth.
Survivors include a daughter, Anna L. Lawton of Portsmouth; four sisters, Lena Kent of Old Field Township, N.C., Gladys Eatmon, Earley Simmons and Martha L. Mitchell, all of Wilson County, N.C.; a brother, Carlester Mitchell of Old Field Township, N.C.; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A funeral will be conducted at noon Sunday in Prince of Peace Holiness Church, Portsmouth, by Bishop Elijah Arnold. Burial will be in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens, Suffolk. Viewing will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday in Corprew Funeral Home. The body will be taken to the church prior to the service.
