PRAY FOR ABORTION'S END

My wife and I are born-again Christians who abhor abortion and all that it stands for.

We detest the killings (murder by doctors and nurses who take part) of innocent children for any reason. We want to stop it.

We feel that our nation is being judged by God because of our sin. Our feelings are so strong that when we felt my wife was pregnant twice within the past two years, we decided that there is no way we would allow an abortion to take place, even though it would probably cost my wife her life. We are not at all against doctors or medicine in any way (my wife received a multiple organ transplant almost three years ago), but we stand against abortion.

I am afraid that I cannot condone the behavior of many of my brothers and sisters in Christ who violate the law in their attempts to stop abortion. We should be praying for this evil to stop. We should be among the people passing out literature and letting women know that they have an alternative to killing their children. We should be supporting the crisis-pregnancy centers so that they can provide for those who are in need. We should be praying for God's intervention.

I ask my fellow Christians, ``How big is your God?'' Is his arm so short that it cannot deal directly with the abortion centers, doctors and nurses? Can he not cause these centers to go out of business and close?

Do we have the same fervor in prayer when we get by ourselves with God as we do when others are watching, or are we nothing more than 20th-century Sadducees/Pharisees?

I would willingly risk my life to save someone who appears to be in imminent danger of losing his/her life, but I do draw the line at knowingly and willfully violating the law to keep a murder from taking place. If we want abortion to stop, then let's get down on our knees every morning and evening and pray for our Supreme Court, local courts, local public officials, senators and representatives. If they will not bow to God's direction, then vote the accessories to murder out of office.
