JULIA D. ASHBEE

Julia Lee Dozier Ashbee, 71, of the 600 block of Meadows Drive, a retired switchboard operator, died Sept. 1, 1994, in Norfolk.

Mrs. Ashbee was born in Norfolk and was the widow of Robert J. Ashbee. She retired from Sears in 1986. She was a member of Kempsville Baptist Church and the Dorcas Sunday School Class. She had been a member of Job's Daughters as a teenager and was a former member of Suburban Junior Woman's Club and Suburban Senior Woman's Club. She was an active member of the Elizabeth River Woman's Club and a member of the Larkspur Garden Club.

Survivors include three sons, Ronnie J. Ashbee of Virginia Beach and Robert Wills and Michael Wills, both of Chesapeake; two sisters, Laura May D. Lee of Norfolk and Frances D. Dickerson of Virginia Beach; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in Smith & Williams Funeral Home, Kemspville Chapel, by Dr. Kelly J. Burris and Dr. Walker N. Stockburger. Burial will be in Colonial Grove Memorial Park. Friends may join the family from 7 to 8 p.m. today in the funeral home and at the residence at other times. Memorial donations may be made to Kempsville Baptist Church or to a charity of choice.
