Andrew Hollowell Pierce, 78, of Route 1, died early Friday morning, Sept. 2, 1994, in Albemarle Hospital, Elizabeth City.
Mr. Pierce was born in Gates County. He had retired after 22 years as a guard with the North Carolina State Department of Corrections. He was a member of Damascus Christian Church.
Surviving is his wife Crenolia White Pierce; a son, Larry B. Pierce Sr. and his wife, Doris Pierce of Sunbury; two sisters, Bernice Gray of Gatesville and Ellen Brothers of Sunbury; a brother, Earl Pierce of Virginia Beach; five grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday in Damascus Christian Church by the Rev. Riddick Pearce. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may join the family today from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in Miller Funeral Home, Gatesville, and other times at the residence.
