Mrs. Catherine H. Gwynn, 76, died Thursday, Sept. 1, 1994, in a hospital.
Mrs. Gwynn was a native of Caswell County, N.C., and had resided in Newport News for 54 years. She was the daughter of the late Felix and Carrie Howard. She was an active member of the New Grafton Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, George Gwynn Sr. of Newport News; two sons, George Gwynn Jr. of Hampton and Howard Gwynn of Newport News; three daughters, Carrie Snead of Norfolk, Beulah Gwynn of Forestville, Md., and Doris Walker of Decatur, Ga.; three sisters, Beulah Seabron of Newport News, Cleo Voss of Temple Hills, Md., and Sadie Badgett of Reidsville, N.C.; five grandsons, Gregory, Gary, Harry, Damon and Gerald; two granddaughters, Chenita and Alexandra; three great-grandchildren, Brandon, Kierra and Sean; and a host of loving family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 6, 1994, at the New Grafton Baptist Church with the Rev. Stanley Sparrow, pastor, officiating. Interment will be in Hampton Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Gwynn may be viewed from noon until 6 p.m. Monday at Cooke Bros. Funeral Chapel and from 9 a.m. Tuesday until the hour of service at the church. Assemble at 1016 41st St. by 10:15 a.m. Tuesday.
