Fonda Muse Scott, 78, of Grundy, passed away in Buchanan General Hospital on Thursday, Sept. 1, 1994, following a lengthy illness.
She was born in Gloucester, Va., daughter of Charles H. and Mary E. Muse. She had been a resident of Grundy for several years and was a member of Buchanan First Presbyterian Church. She was retired as a statistical clerk for the Portsmouth Naval Hospital.
Mrs. Scott was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas R. Scott Sr., who died Oct. 3, 1974.
She is survived by a son, Thomas R. Scott Jr. of Grundy; a sister, Jessie Muse Bastian of Hughesville, Pa.; and three grandchildren, Thomas Reid Scott, Morgan F. Scott and Erin M. Scott.
A funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday in Buchanan First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. James W. Alexander and the Rev. Jimmy Davidson officiating. Burial will follow in Mountain Valley Memorial Park, Big Rock, Va. The body will be taken to the Buchanan First Presbyterian Church, Grundy, at 6 p.m. today, where friends may call. Grundy Funeral Home, Grundy, is in charge of arrangements. The family suggests that expressions of sympathy be made in the form of contributions to the American Cancer Society, Buchanan First Presbyterian Church or the donor's special charity.
