When the Tidewater Sharks lock horns with the Peninsula Poseidons on enemy turf tonight, they will be looking to some new faces to bolster the offense.
Two former Bayside High School standouts - tailback Kevin Blanding and offensive lineman Sean Dean - will be in the lineup and will see considerable action.
According to Sharks head coach Red Stickney, both Dean and Blanding give the Sharks (2-0) added depth and will help keep the defense from keying on one player.
``Last week the Invaders put nine and 10 guys up on the line and were keying into James (Rogers),'' Stickney said. ``He never got a chance to get going.
``Kevin brings speed and quickness and will take some of the pressure off of James.''
Dean, a 6-foot-6, 275-pounder, was an All-American at Glenville State. He likely will start at offensive tackle.
``Sean is very quick off of the ball,'' Stickney said. ``He moves real well for a big guy.''
The Poseidons (2-1) are led by quarterback Devon Brown and wide receivers Brian Darden and Reggie Cosby. First-year coach Vernon Lee also has been pleased with his special teams.
``The key to winning the game will be the team that can control the ball,'' Lee said. ``We need to be prepared for all situations.''
Poseidons kick returner Sean Jones, who also starts at cornerback, has run back two punts for touchdowns this season. by CNB
