Shirley M. Sawyer, 57, of the 600 block of Hessian Road, died Sept. 4, 1994, in a Virginia Beach hospital.
Mrs. Sawyer was born in New York. She was employed by the Naval Amphib Base at Little Creek for Morale, Welfare & Recreation Department as a financial program manager. She was the widow of John R. Sawyer.
Survivors include five daughters, Katherine A. Kaus of Dunkirk, N.Y., Patricia L. Murphy of Baton Rouge, La., Cheryl L. Senecal and Shelly R. Sawyer, both of Virginia Beach, and Janelle M. Sawyer of Lynchburg; two sons, David A. Polvino of Elm Grove, Wis., and John R. Sawyer Jr. of Virginia Beach; a sister, Jeanne Sobecki of New Hampshire; 10 grandchildren; and a longtime companion, Edward J. Klavenski.
Services and burial will be private. Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Lynnhaven Chapel, is handling arrangements. The family will be at 609 Hessian Road, Virginia Beach, Tuesday from 7 to 8 p.m.
