MAY K. RAILEY

May King Railey, 92, a native of Rescue, died Sept. 4, 1994. She was the widow of Otis M. Railey and daughter of the late Ollie S. and Stella Hines King.

Mrs. Railey graduated from the first class to include women from the College of William and Mary in 1923 and taught languages in Suffolk High School for some years before her marriage. She was the matriarch of the only family on the James River in Isle of Wight County still retaining original land granted before 1650. She was a member of Oxford United Methodist Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Alfred S. Mundy of Virginia Beach and Mrs. H.A. Justice of Raleigh, N.C.; three granddaughters; three grandsons; and one great-grandson.

Graveside services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Holly Lawn Cemetery by the Rev. E.E. Jones. The family will receive friends tonight from 6:30 to 8 p.m. in R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home. Memorial donations may be made to the Virginia Beach Plaza Rescue Squad.
