JAMES HARRIS

James ``Jake'' Harris, of the 2400 block of Princess Anne Road, a retired self-employed brickmason for 45 years, died Sept. 1, 1994, in Hampton Veterans Hospital, Hampton.

Mr. Harris was born in Nansemond County, Va. He was a former member of Union Baptist Church, Newport News. He was a U.S. Army veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Irma W. Harris; two daughters, Gertrude Breedlove of Washington, D.C., and Barbara Sturdivant-Becton of Virginia Beach; a stepdaughter, Sharon D. Tillery of Virginia Beach; a son, Marvin T. Harris of Virginia Beach; a stepson, Michael Harris of California; four sisters, Ann Gay of New York City, Martha Watson of East Orange, N.J., Margaret Kirkman of Norfolk and Toni Bullock of Dorchester, Mass.; a brother, Ernest L. Harris of Newport News; three grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a host of cousins and friends.

The funeral will be conducted at noon Wednesday in Corprew Funeral Home by the Rev. Joseph M. Copeland. Burial with military honors will be in Pleasant Shade Cemetery, Hampton. Viewing will begin at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the funeral home. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday for the funeral.
