Margaret E. Batts, 85, a resident of Newport News Baptist Retirement Community, died Sept. 5, 1994, in a local hospital.
Mrs. Batts was born in Norfolk and was the widow of Alton F. Batts. She was the retired owner of Hickory Egg Farms in Chesapeake. She was a member of Spurgeon Memorial Baptist Church, Norfolk, and a former member of Golden Circle Bible Class. She was a source of joy and inspiration to all the lived she touched.
Mrs. Batts is survived by several nieces and nephews.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Smith & Williams Funeral Home, Norfolk Chapel, by Dr. Paul Lawson. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5 to 7 p.m. today. Memorial contributions may be made to Spurgeon Memorial Baptist Church.
