Matthew Jack Whealton, 63, of the 300 block of Carawan Lane, died Monday at his residence.
Mr. Whealton was born in Washington, N.C., and was a retired self-employed auto mechanic. He was a member of Oak Grove United Methodist Church, Chesapeake, and an Army veteran of the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife, Sharron Fant Whealton; his daughter and son-in-law, Karen W. and Russell G. Marable, both of Chesapeake; his two sons and daughter-in-law, Matthew J. Whealton Jr. of Baltimore and Robert Coleman ``Cole'' and Robin D. Whealton of Chesapeake; one brother, Calvin A. Whealton of Miami; three grandchildren, Robert Coleman Whealton Jr., Allen Wayne Whealton and Randall Gray Marable, all of Chesapeake.
A graveside service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Wednesday in Chesapeake Memorial Gardens by the Rev. W. Roberts McIvor and assisted by Leslie C. Whealton II. The family will receive friends at Oman Family Funeral Home, Chesapeake, from 7 to 9 p.m. today. Memorial donations may be made to the Building Fund of Oak Grove United Methodist Church or to the American Cancer Society.
