Sallie Roberts Brosier Graham of the 800 block of Seminole Drive, died in Obici Hospital on Sunday, Sept. 4, 1994.
She was a native of Wilson, N.C., but lived from early childhood until her death in Suffolk.
For 42 years she was employed as a teacher with the Nansemond County and the city of Suffolk public schools, retiring in 1975.
She was a member of First Baptist Church Mahan Street and was active in various auxiliaries of the church. She held life membership in the Zeta Phi Beta Sorority and was a charter member of Phi Chapter of Virginia State University, Beta Theta Zeta Chapter of Norfolk and the Epsilon Theta Zeta Chapter of Suffolk. She was a member of the Suffolk Chapter of University Women, The Independent Voters League and was a life member of the NAACP.
She leaves as survivors two foster daughters, Dr. Arlethia H. Elliott of Norfolk and Belinda Kindred of Suffolk; a foster son, Elliott Kindred of Suffolk; a foster grandson, Wesley Kindred of Suffolk; three sisters, Bessie James of Pottstown, Pa., LeClaire Murray of Atlantic City, N.J. and Frances Garcia of Brooklyn, N.Y.; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Friday at 1 p.m. in First Baptist Church Mahan Street in Suffolk with the Rev. Issac Williams officiating. Crocker Funeral Home is handling arrangements. A wake will be conducted by the Zeta Phi Beta Sorority on Thursday at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
