Philip Dale Stanford, 53, of the 500 block of Austin St., died Sept. 3, 1994, in his residence.
Mr. Stanford was born in Englewood, Colo., and was the widower of Martha Evelyn Stanford. He retired in 1980 from the U.S. Navy as a petty officer first class after 20 years of service and also retired from Newport News Shipbuilding.
Survivors include a daughter, Phyllis Diane Jamison of Fort Meade, Md.; a son, Philip Duane Stanford of Hampton; two grandsons, Nicholas P. Jamison and Daniel J. Jamison, both of Fort Meade; two stepdaughters, Sandra Murphy and Stella Walsh of Rocky Mount, N.C.; a stepgranddaughter, Keri Nauman of Rocky Mount; and a stepgrandson, Brent Morgan of Rocky Mount.
A graveside service will be at 9 a.m. Friday in Arlington National Cemetery. The family will be at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel, from 7 to 8 p.m. today. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
