We've all seen it - customers entering supermarkets, department stores, even eating places, barefoot and frequently (males only, so far!) wearing nothing above the waist. They enter and are not told by anyone in authority that shoes and appropriate clothing are required. Thus, as we saw three barefoot young men walking in front of us toward the entrance to the Lynnhaven Parkway Wal-Mart, I grumbled to my wife that they wouldn't be prevented from entering the store.
Surprise! As we reached the entrance doors the three young men, obviously disgruntled, were pushing their way through the exit doors. Immediately inside we saw a store employee, a ``greeter'' that Wal-Mart always has stationed there, and stopped to thank him for turning back the barefoot would-be shoppers.
Congratulations, Wal-Mart! We're certain the overwhelming majority of customers who enter commercial establishments every day would like to see reasonable dress codes enforced. And thanks again to the greeter who reminded us that there's still hope.
