LESTER A. MILTIER

Lester A. Miltier, 87, of the first block of Byers Ave., died Sunday, Sept. 4, 1994, in a Portsmouth hospital.

Mr. Miltier was a native of Whaleyville, Va. He had retired from the Norfolk Naval Shipyard Shop 81 as a master molder and electric steel melter after 31 years. He was a member of Simonsdale Presbyterian Church, where he was a deacon and elder. He was also a member of America-Fellowship Masonic Lodge 148, Portsmouth, and was a charter member of the Men's Fellowship Club of Simonsdale.

Survivors include his wife, Esther Miltier; three daughters, Flossie Taylor of McQueeny, Texas, Sheila McCarty of Charlottesville and Sandra Gifford of Virginia Beach; a son, James D. Miltier of Kailua, Hawaii; a sister, Gertrude Brown of Portsmouth; 18 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in Simonsdale Presbyterian Church by Dr. Melvin S. Hester and the Rev. Jack Ettershank. Burial with masonic rites will be in Olive Branch Cemetery. The family will be at Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Boulevard Chapel, on Thursday from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
