VIOLET T. LANE

Violet Trent Lane, 92, formerly of Chowan Drive, died Sept. 5, 1994, in Portsmouth.

Mrs. Lane was a native of Salem, Va., and was the widow of John W. Lane. She was a retired salesperson for Hub Clothing Store. She was a charter member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Chesapeake.

Survivors include two daughters, Frances L. Skinner and Katherine L. Sivils, both of Portsmouth; a son, George W. ``Bill'' Lane of Norfolk; a brother, Melvin Trent of Melrose, Fla.; eight grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday in Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, by the Rev. Robert F. Cofield Jr. and the Rev. Scott M. Rimer. Burial will be in Olive Branch Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today and other times at 407 Leavell Road, Portsmouth. Memorial donations may be made to Aldersgate United Methodist Church.
