Nettie Parker Spence, 87, of the 1300 block of Seldon Ave., a homemaker, died Sept. 3, 1994, in a local hospital.
Mrs. Spence was born in Princess Anne County and was the widow of the Rev. Joe Rome Spence. She was a member of St. Stephen's Church of God in Christ.
Survivors include four daughters, Shirley A. Saunders and Lois S. Walton, both of Chesapeake, Charlotte A. Richardson of Norfolk and Elmira S. ``Chris'' Boyce of Virginia Beach; a son, the Rev. Joseph R. Spencer of Norfolk; two devoted granddaughters, Melvina A. Saunders of Alexandria, Va., and Sharon S. Lassiter of Norfolk; 25 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by a son, Clinton A. Spence.
A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday in the New Jerusalem Church of God in Christ by the Rev. Barnett K. Thoroughgood. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park. Pretlow & Sons Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
