A distraught man shot his estranged wife and her male companion early Tuesday, and then killed himself in a townhouse on Bound Brook Court.
Police identified the gunman as 24-year-old Frederick P. Ferguson. At about 12:30 a.m., he used a .380-caliber pistol to shoot 23-year-old Malonya Ferguson in the back, and 23-year-old Troy Tucker in the arm and chest, police said.
Ferguson then shot himself in the head, collapsing near the front door of the townhouse in the 5500 block of Bound Brook Court near the intersection of Newtown and Diamond Springs roads.
The injured were taken to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, where they were listed in stable condition, police said.
Friends said the Fergusons had recently moved to the area from Tennessee. Their cars, parked in the driveway of the townhouse, bore Tennessee license plates.
