Gov. George Allen is expected to announce within the next few days that Thomas Leggett of Wicomico and John W. ``Jack'' White of Cape Charles have been appointed to the Virginia Marine Resources Commission.
Leggett, 39, is a commercial fisherman who holds a master's degree in marine biology from the College of William and Mary. He will replace John W. ``Pete'' Freeman of Hampton as the commission's official commercial-fishing representative.
White, 67, is a retired business executive, a member of the Northampton County Board of Supervisors and president of the Northampton County Republican Party. He will replace Sidney Camden of Eastville.
The terms of both Freeman and Camden expired earlier this year.
The commission regulates sport and commercial fishing, including shellfishing, in the state. It is headquartered in Newport News and headed by William A. Pruitt. by CNB
