A Norfolk teenager was arrested Tuesday night and charged with murder in the Booth slaying Aug. 28 of a 64-year-old man and with attempted capital murder for allegedly shooting at two police officers.
Terrance M. Booth, 18, of the 400 block of W. 35th St., was being held in the Norfolk City Jail on $500,000 bail.
The body of James Willey, who lived in the 400 block of 30th St., was found in the 2800 block of Debree Ave. He had been shot. Witnesses told police that Willey had been seen arguing with a man before the shooting.
Booth also is charged with shooting at two police officers the night before the slaying.
The officers were making an arrest in an unrelated incident, according to police spokesman Larry Hill. Neither officer was wounded, but the bullets struck their car, Hill said.
Booth is expected to be arraigned at 9 a.m. today in General District Court.
