Portsmouth native Ruth Weston Brown, who won a Tony in 1989 as best actress in a musical for her performance in ``Black and Blue,'' will perform at 8 p.m. Friday at Hampton Bay Days.
In January 1990, Portsmouth staged ``Ruth Brown Day'' with three days of activities honoring the woman known as the original ``Queen of Rhythm and Blues.''
A recent inductee into the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame, Brown was awarded a Grammy in February 1990 for her ``Blues of Broadway'' album. by CNB
