Carlton Scarbrough Stublen Jr., 77, of the 1700 block of Ann St., died Sept. 7, 1994, in Suffolk.
Mr. Stublen was a native of Portsmouth. He had retired from Sears, Roebuck & Co. He was a member of Monumental United Methodist Church, past president of Merrimac Kiwanis Club and secretary of Portsmouth Democratic Committee for over 20 years. He was an Army veteran of WWII and served on General MacArthur's staff.
Survivors include three nieces, Elizabeth Robie Kinney of Hudson, Ohio, Carole Woolf Fryar of Thomasville, Ga., and Jill Barnes Armstrong of Portsmouth; two nephews, Henry Carter Robie III and Jack Parker Barnes II, both of Portsmouth; and a brother-in-law, Jack Parker Barnes of Portsmouth.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in Monumental United Methodist Church by the Rev. Beverly Watkins and the Rev. Raymond Edmonds. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Boulevard Chapel, today from 7 to 9 p.m. and other times at 17 Early Drive, Portsmouth.
Memorial donations may be made to the Monumental United Methodist Church Building Fund.
