FUNNY STUFF
Beginning Sept. 11, there will be a few changes to our Sunday comics.
``Johnny Wonder,'' that perpetual 12-year-old who answers science questions, is being discontinued. Wonder's creator, Dick Rogers, is retiring.
``Luann,'' the only comic strip published daily that doesn't run Sunday, will replace Johnny Wonder.
There are other changes as well. The ``For the Kids'' page will be replaced with three new activity-oriented comics for children.
``Ask Shagg'' features Shagg E. Dawg, a character that answers children's questions about animals.
We're also adding ``Where's Waldo,'' the popular hidden-picture cartoon.
And, finally, we're adding ``Rabbit Ears' Hare Brained Ideas.'' Get out the scissors and glue for this one. Each week, the children can make something out the strip, such as a finger puppet or scene from a classic children's tale.
We hope you and your children will enjoy the new comics together. If you have comments or questions about the changes, call the newspapers' public editor at 446-2475. by CNB
