Bessie Sears Bright, 78, formerly of the 1200 block of Myrtle Ave., Chesapeake, died Sept. 9, 1994, in Virginia Beach.
Mrs. Bright was born in Currituck, N.C., a member of Elizabeth River Baptist Church in Chesapeake, WMU, Indian River Senior Citizens Club and the American Association of Retired Persons. She was the widow of Derwood Oscar Bright.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Susan Swain of Virginia Beach; a sister, Mrs. Susie Twiford of Coinjock, N.C.; grandchildren, Cynthia Jensen of Virginia Beach and Julian Swain III of Chesapeake; and a great-grandson, Alec Jensen of Virginia Beach.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at Graham Funeral Home, South Norfolk Chapel, by the Rev. Willis Switzer. Burial will be in Rosewood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5 to 6 p.m. Sunday and at 708 Rosaer Court, Virginia Beach, all other times.
