MAN FOUND DEAD

A 23-year-old man was found floating in Lake Cavalier on Friday and police said it appeared he had been struck in the head.

The body of Marquel N. Powell, who was also known as ``Man'' and ``Sweets,'' was found just before 6 p.m. in the water near the 1300 block of S. Carrington Crescent.

Powell, who had lived in the 1200 block of Darren Drive, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Powell was last seen alive between 10:30 p.m. and 11 p.m. Thursday.

Police said they had no cause of death and no motive. The body was sent to the state medical examiner's office in Norfolk for an examination.
