Lucy Zaleski, Norfolk's top teacher in 1993-94, has been named the Region II Virginia Teacher of the Year and is among eight finalists vying to win the state teaching title.
Zaleski's selection marks the first time a Norfolk teacher has won the Region II honor, Norfolk schools officials said. She teaches sixth grade at Azalea Gardens Middle.
