Miriam Baines Rountree, 74, of the 3000 block of Greenway Court E. in Portsmouth, passed away September 8, 1994.
Mrs. Rountree was born in Gatesville, N.C., the daughter of the late Mamie Harrell Baines and Charlie M. Baines of Gatesville, N.C. She had lived in Portsmouth over 50 years. She was a member of the Port Norfolk Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, T. Wiggins ``Stump'' Rountree, two sisters, Emily Baines Tobin of Portsmouth, Va., and Frances Baines Hedgecock of Winston-Salem, N.C.; two nephews, Art Hedgecock and wife Lou of Kernersville, N.C., and Charles Tobin of Welcome, N.C.; one niece, Chandra H. Hinkle and husband, Ray of Welcome, N.C.; two great-nephews, Allen and Madison Hedgecock of Kernersville, N.C., two great-nieces Christie and Shana Hinkle of Welcome, N.C.; and numerous cousins.
The funeral will be conducted Sunday at 3:30 p.m. in Snellings Funeral Home, Churchland Chapel by the Rev. Ector L. Hamrick. Burial will be in Olive Branch Cemetery.
