THOMAS E. WYNKOOP

In memory of Cmdr. Thomas E. Wynkoop, U.S. Navy Ret., 66, of Virginia Beach, who passed away peacefully in his home with his family present on Sept. 10, 1994, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in San Diego, Calif., he was the son of the late Admiral and Mrs. Thomas P. Wynkoop.

Cmdr. Wynkoop was a graduate of the Naval Academy class of 1951. His career included being the Camp Commander of Camp David Presidential Mountain Retreat under Presidents Eisenhower and Kennedy. He also commanded two Naval Destroyers under NATO. Cmdr. Wynkoop was the U.S. adviser to the Korean Naval Academy and staff college. After his retirement, he was a real estate broker in Virginia Beach. Cmdr. Wynkoop was a member of the Cavalier Golf and Yacht Club and a member of the Royal Order for the King Neptune Festival in 1992 in Virginia Beach.

Survivors include his wife, Emma "Bobbie" Wynkoop; three sons, Thomas E. Wynkoop of Baltimore, Md., Stephen M. Wynkoop and his wife, Lisa of Dallas, Texas and Jonathon Christopher Wynkoop and his wife Lisa of Los Angeles, Calif.; a sister, Norma Ann Wynkoop of Rockville, Md.; and one grandson, Jonathon Christopher Wynkoop II of Los Angeles, Calif.

A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 13, 1994, in H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments, Laskin Road Chapel, by Fr. Michael Breslin. Burial will be at the Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md., at a later date.

Memorial donations may be made to the Virginia Beach Volunteer Rescue Squad.
