I strongly object to the racist overtones of Don Feder's Aug. 30 column, ``Gun-control legislation: Does it really work? Where's it heading?''
The clear implication is that if we exclude ``blacks and Hispanics,'' the homicide rate for ``white America'' is somehow within acceptable limits.
Mr. Feder is so far to the right that you insult your remaining readers, conservative as well as liberal, by continuing to print his reactionary and now racist columns. He further compounds his bias by his concluding paragraph linking midnight basketball with murderers, muggers and psychopaths.
I can choose to ignore Mr. Feder as an extreme example of the far right. It's frightening to think his views are published on a regular basis.
