Ruth Bell Edwards, 86, of N. High St., died Sept. 11, 1994.
Miss Edwards was a native of Southampton County and was the daughter of the late Bennett Lee and Bernice Branch Edwards. She was retired from Leggett Department Store and was a member of Courtland United Methodist Church.
Survivors include two sisters, Susie Eason of Franklin and Janie Wood of Wilson, N.C.; one brother, B.L. Edwards Jr. of Courtland; seven nieces, Vickie Spivey and Brenda Flowers, both of Courtland, Dale Holt of Sedley, Betty Ann Murray of Hampton, Norma Jean Jones of Williamsburg, Judy Rogers of Wilson, N.C., and Betty Lowe of Franklin; and five nephews, Kenny Edwards of Suffolk, Richard Edwards of Sedley, G.C. Edwards Jr. of Newport News, Donnie Eason of Franklin and Dexter Wood of Portsmouth.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Wright Funeral Home with the Rev. John Wimer officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Courtland. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5 to 7 p.m. today and other times at the home of Mr. and Mrs. B.L. Edwards Jr., 26447 Pine Haven in Courtland.
Memorial donations may be made to the Courtland United Methodist Church Memorial Fund.
