Herbert W. ``Sam'' Akers, 71, of the 900 block of Hillwell Road, a retired electrical supervisor, died Sept. 10, 1994, in Chesapeake.
Mr. Akers was born in Norfolk. He had retired from Old Dominion University.
Survivors include two daughters, Nancy L. Willits of Norfolk and Amanda L. Sawyer of Chesapeake; a son, Herbert W. Akers Jr. of Newport News; a brother, Arthur ``Sonny'' Akers Jr. of Elizabeth City, N.C.; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and his loving companion, Carolyn Akers Stant of Chesapeake.
The graveside service will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday in Chesapeake Memorial Gardens by the Rev. Willis I. Dowling. The family will be at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Great Bridge Chapel, from 7 to 8 p.m. today. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
