WATER SERVICE INTERRUPTED

Water service on part of this Outer Banks island will be diminished early Friday morning.

Water customers east of the second Colington bridge - near the firehouse - will experience temporary loss of water pressure between 10 p.m. Thursday and 6 a.m. Friday.

The drop in pressure will allow for improvements in the distribution system on the new bridge.

Hooking up a new 12-inch water main requires that water service be turned off in this area. Water service west of the bridge will be maintained from water stored in a new elevated tower.

The work was scheduled in the middle of the night during the lowest customer demand to minimize inconvenience.
