Robert Simmer, 83, of the 3700 block of Hardwick Terrace, a retired pipefitter, died Sept. 12, 1994, in his residence.
Mr. Simmer was born in Portsmouth. He had retired from Portsmouth Gas Co. He was a member of Westhaven Baptist Church and the Men's Bible Class. He was also a former deacon.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia Gardner Simmer; a daughter, Patricia Y. Bishop of Greenbay, Va.; a son, Robert C. Simmer of Greenbay; two sisters, Elizabeth S. Culpepper of Norfolk and Dorothy S. Sondej of Portsmouth; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in Westhaven Baptist Church by the Rev. W. Thomas Wood. Burial will be in Olive Branch Cemetery. Snellings Funeral Home, Churchland Chapel, is handling arrangements. Family will receive friends at the residence.
Memorial donations may be made to Westhaven Baptist Church.
