DON'T HELP ALL SPECIES

Many things are becoming endangered species. You reported the efforts to save the canebrake rattler on Sept. 8. Environmentalists believe they have a place on this planet, as do I.

Governor Allen's ``three strikes and you're out'' and no parole for convicted felons would endanger two species, criminals and trial lawyers. If a felon is not incarcerated, he or she is a potential client, in many cases again and again. The taxpayer often picks up the bill for court-appointed lawyers.

We have too many of both species in this country and they do not deserve the same treatment as the canebrake rattler.
