A 9-year-old boy who was shot was found dead Wednesday by his mother when she returned from work. Police said they believe the shooting was an accident, but they are still investigating.
The name of the family was being withheld Wednesday night.
Police said the woman found her son about 5 p.m. when she returned to their home in the 1100 block of 80th St. The boy had been home alone.
``We have been unable to talk to the mother because she is so distraught,'' said Bill Roth, a police spokesman. ``We are still investigating this . . . . as an accidental shooting.''
