FARMER'S MARKET WILL BE HOST TO KING NEPTUNE FOLKS WILL BE ABLE TO TRY CORN SHUCKING, PIG RACING, HAMSTER DASHING AND MORE.

This weekend Neptune Festival goers can plan to head out to the Farmer's Market at the corner of Landstown and Princess Anne roads on Saturday.

There, folks will be able to try their hands at corn shucking, pig racing, hamster dashing and more. There will be pony rides, a petting zoo, a ``tractor trot,'' and all kinds of food. John Keeling and his Pure Country Band and Mason Creek Band headline the entertainment.

On Sunday, the athletically minded can try the grueling Sandman Triathlon set to start at 8 a.m. on Atlantic Avenue at 31st Street.

It begins with a 1K (.62 mile) open ocean swim, proceeds to a 14-mile bicycle ride and ends with a 5K (3.1 miles) run. You can pick up an entry package at Virginia Beach Middle School at 25th Street and Mediterranean Avenue on Saturday from 2 to 6 p.m. The cost is $50.

Other festival highlights include Heritage Day Sept. 25 with ethnic foods, costumes and entertainment, and the Boardwalk celebration Sept. 30 to Oct 2, which includes an arts and crafts show, parade, sandcastle classic, fireworks and musical offerings.
