Motion to support our UPARR grant application to complete rehabilitation of the Neighborhood Facility Recreation Center. This item clarifies the resolution approved on July 26. The UPARR grant award would be a maximum of $42,847 with a 30 percent match from the city of $18,363 for a total of $61,210. Approved, 7-0
Motion to transfer certain city-owned property to the Portsmouth Redevelopment and Housing Authority for conveyance to Miller Day Nursery. Miller Day Nursery has leased city-owned property for use as a day care facility. The board of directors of the nursery desires to obtain ownership of the property, thereby adding the parcel to the tax rolls. Approved, 6-0-1; Clemons abstained
Motion to request the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries to authorize placement of ``No Wake'' signs in portions of the Elizabeth River and Scotts Creek. Boats traveling at an excessive rate of speed, creating damaging wakes and unsafe boating conditions have prompted this recommendation. Approved, 6-1; Griffin opposed
Motion to re-adopt the Emergency Operations Plan (EOP). The state of Virginia, Department of Emergency Services, requires the re-adoption of the EOP following an update. Approved, 7-0
Motion to transfer $30,000 from the Grants Contingency Account to purchase equipment and supplies necessary to handle a Level III Hazardous Materials incident in Southside Hampton Roads. The city has been selected to administer a Level III Hazardous Materials Emergency Response Team for the region. Funds in the amount of $30,000 for fiscal year 1994-1995 have been received from the Department of Emergency Services Hazardous Materials. No local match is required. Approved, 7-0
