Thomas Norman Yancey Sr., 85, of the 500 block of White Oak Drive, died Thursday at home.
He was a native of Clarksville, Va., and was the husband of Emily K. Yancey of Virginia Beach.
Mr. Yancey had retired in 1974 from the Norfolk and Western Railroad (formerly Virginian Railway) after 32 years. He was a member and deacon of Kemspville Baptist Church. He was also a member of Kempsville Masonic Lodge (NU)196.
Other survivors include a daughter, Ann Y. McCardell and a son, Thomas N. Yancey Jr., both of Virginia Beach; four sisters, Josie B. Reams, Julia E. Poarch, Hilda W. Pool and Helen V. Frazier, all of Clarksville; one brother, Marshall A. Yancey of Clarksville; and three grandchildren.
A funeral service will be conducted Saturday, Sept. 17, at 11 a.m. in Smith & Williams Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel, by Dr. Kelly Burris. Burial will be in Rosewood Memorial Park, with Smith & Williams Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel, in charge. The family will be at the funeral home Friday night from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
Memorial donations may be made to Kemspville Baptist Church.
