An 8-year-old boy was sexually assaulted Thursday evening in a wooded area near the Kempsville Recreation Center.
The boy was lured into the woods behind the recreation center, which is in the 800 block of Monmouth Lane, by a teenager who told him that he wanted to show him a fort, said police spokesman Mike Carey.
Once he was in the woods, he was forced to disrobe and was sodomized, Carey said.
The boy was taken to a hospital for treatment.
Police are looking for a black male, about 16 years old, 5 feet 8 inches tall, with a shaven head. He was last seen wearing dark pants and a white shirt with orange and red patterns. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 427-0000.
