The poll says top-ranked Norcom at No. 3 Western Branch is the big high school football game tonight in South Hampton Roads.
But thanks to a series of upsets and outstanding individual efforts last week, virtually every game on tonight's slate offers broad appeal.
Some examples:
Green Run quarterback Glenwood Ferebee will likely set the Beach District passing record tonight when the second-ranked Stallions host sixth-ranked Bayside.
Eighth-ranked Lake Taylor and No. 9 Booker T. Washington hook up at Harbor Park for the early-season lead in the Eastern District.
Atlantic Shores measures itself against what in recent years has been the area's top private school team, Norfolk Academy.
There's even special interest this week in the struggling teams.
How will Kellam rebound after being scorched for a record-setting rushing performance in a loss to Norview? And can Cox collect itself against Granby after losing to Ocean Lakes in just the second game in the Dolphins' history?
